Central Florida Group Helping Puerto Rican Strays

In response to the huge numbers of stray animals and the inability of Puerto Rican authorities to enforce animal cruelty laws there, Orlando resident Christine Driscoll didn’t just get mad, she acted!

Formerly a resident of Puerto Rico for 13 years, and after hearing last weeks horrific story of more than 50 dogs and cats being thrown to their deaths from a bridge, she founded Amigos de los Animales (Friends of the Animals). Working with the Central Florida SPCA, she is helping to place animals from Puerto Rico in Florida as well as in home as far as New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Currently taking up to 50 dogs from the island, they hope to increase this number over time.

I would love to hear comments from my Puerto Rican friends all over the world. Is this what’s really happening? is it blown out of proportions? I know that this is likely an epidemic that extends throughout latinamerica in general. I have seen similar situation in my home country of Colombia. Please tell me what you think.
