Whether seen as a fad or a true necessity, green housing is starting to take root in Southern Florida. Local builders are starting to realize that going green could actually mean saving and making more money.
The recent drought and rising gas prices are making developers consider their alternatives. Green construction can be found from the residential to the state sector. A newly finished 15,000 square foot mansion in Manalapan has enough solar panels to cover a regulation size basket ball court. Then there are new townhomes that have been built where the wetlands that sit on the same land have been preserved and protected.
Florida Atlantic University is expecting for its new College of Nursing to be green certified within the year.
Looks like green building is going to be big!
