Here is another house with a story: 1800 NE 43rd Street, Oakland Park, Fla. 33308 . The property was sold in 2002 for $315,000.00.
The buyer at the time bought the property with a dream of making it a two story Key West home. I don't know what happened, but this never materialized and the property was abandoned for almost a decade. I lived in the neighborhood and can tell you that the neighborhood was not happy about what was going on in that house. It is not a good thing to have an abandoned house for a neighbor.
Forward: "The Blue House" was back on the market in 2011 and is currently going thru deserved renovations, well over due. Here is the property MLS history: Download Property History 1800 NE 43rd St Oakland Park Fla 33308 This is a great house. Over 2,000 square feet of living area, the floor plan originally a 3 bedrooms and 2 baths plus a family room, a carport, great lake views, and a fireplace. It was priced at $300,000 until sometime the end of March, when the new owner took it again off the market.
I will keep an eye on it. Let me know if you have an interest. And here is the breath taking water views:

What is happening to the blue house is that a very savy investor bought a property in a desirable area on the water and is putting money into it. He will then put it on the market and get a good return on his investment. Those not buying SOMETHING right now are missing the boat!!

This home is now on the market for $499,000. The home has been totally redone and the water view is beautiful. I am right across the lake from this home and I see people stopping and looking around all day long. Coral Heights is a subdivition of the City of Oakland Park, Fl., is rebounding and strongly. It pays to put money in your home in this area.
